Cordão de Ouro Capoeira, Mestre Ponciano
The capoeira group Cordão de Ouro London was founded in October 2000 by Mestre Poncianinho. Cordão de Ouro means "the belt of gold".Cordão de Ouro London practice at venues across London and hold social events outside and indoors, capoeira workshops, batizados and parties.
Mestre Ponciano Almeida was born and raised in Guaratinguetá, a small town in the state of São Paolo, Brazil. He started Capoeira at the age of four and he was fortunate enough to have both his father and his uncle as his Mestre, both students of Grande Mestre Suassuna. His first batizado (capoeira grading) took place in London in October 2001. Since then Ponciano has appeared in music videos, magazines, newspapers and TV commercials, including the trailer for BBC One.
Ponciano became a master of capoeira in 2004.
